Luca Panebianco, Ph.D.
His dissertation entitled “Design of multi-agent robotic infrastructures for the exploration of complex and non-structured environments” explores the fundamental development of autonomous vehicles for missions in critical environments, addressing the complexity of navigating loosely structured and dynamic scenarios. It introduces an innovative multi-agent system (MAS) based infrastructure that leverages formal models to express diverse aspects of robot and multi-robot systems, providing a middleware to interpret these models and manage the entire multi-robot system.
Nicolò Ciuccoli, Ph.D.
His PhD thesis focused on the study, design and implementation of data collection systems in structured and complex environments. He defended his thesis entitled “Intelligent Systems for the Exploration of Structured and Complex Environments” in March 2019.
Silvia Zingaretti, Ph.D.
She defended her thesis entitled “Design of SLAM strategies and technologies in structured and complex environments” in March 2018, regarding aa flexible visual SLAM framework for robotic systems in complex environments, employing sensor fusion and 3D imaging for accurate mapping. The framework’s adaptability was validated in real-world scenarios, including industrial processes and underwater applications, showcasing its versatility across different robotic systems.
Veronica Bartolucci, PhD
She defended her thesis entitled “Modelling a Shoal of Marine Biomimetic Vehicles: a Max-Plus Algebra Approach” in March 2024. Her research activity was focused on underwater robotics and concerns the study, modelling and optimization of marine vehicles, through digital twins’ study and max-plus algebra framework.

Eric Marziali
Graduated in Computer Engineering and Automation, he collaborated with LabMACS for the three-year thesis on the development of a calibration system for low-hydrophonescost, acquiring knowledge and skills in the field of program development and construction of hardware components for acoustic systems. Eric has always been passionate and attracted by the ability to work on Robotics and Iot.
Giacomo Fiara
Giacomo is graduated in Electronic Engineering at Università Politecnica delle Marche.
He did his internship at LabMACS, producing a thesis that explore the software impact in the field of educational robotics entitled “Design and implementation of edutainment platforms for robotics and environment awareness literature”.
Luca Bellante
Recently graduated in computer engineering and automation at the Polytechnic University of Marche with an experimental thesis entitled: “Development of a decision-making model for decommissioning of oil platforms,” Luca did his internship at the laboratory “LabMACS,” during which he had the opportunity to analyze multiple topics related to the end-of-life cycle of oil platforms. His interests fall both in automation and computer science, preferring topics that belong to both fields of study, such as defense systems, robotics and cybersecurity.
Manuele Silvestrini
Recently graduated in Electronic Engineering at UNIVPM with a thesis entitled “Design and implementation of robotics kits for introducing educational activities”, during his thesis Manuele interacts with ANcybernetics, the academic spin-off related to LabMACS.
In his thesis, Manuele focuses on the study and development of educational kits to realize interactive learning.
Nicolas Bravi
Graduated in Computer Engineering and Automation bachelor’s degree at UNIVPM in Ancona, with the experimental thesis “Methods and technologies for dolphin detection in fishing environment”. The relative internship has been made at the laboratory “LabMACS” with the goal to analyze acoustic events made by dolphins, using computer vision and deep learning techniques. He is particularly interested in robotics, artificial intelligence and research to develop smart solutions for various problems.
